Do the temporary service adjustments impact my event if my event inquiry was submitted before the service adjustments were implemented and is already contracted?
The temporary service adjustments are intended for event inquiries submitted on or after Monday, Jan. 9, 2023. For RCOs and UCI departments, these adjustments apply to events occurring in winter and spring 2023 only. For off-campus groups, these adjustments apply to events occurring through Sept. 30, 2023. These adjustments are not intended for events submitted prior to Jan. 9, 2023. We are unable to predict future staffing levels and ask for your patience and understanding as we do everything possible to ensure your event needs are fully met.
Why is the Student Center not accepting off-campus event inquiries (except for outdoor Ring Mall tabling)?
With lower-than-normal staffing levels, our first and highest priority must be event needs for UCI RCOs and campus departments. Our commitment to serving the broader community remains an enduring tradition.
Why is the Student Center limiting options for room setups in winter 2023 and spring 2023?
Custom setups take a considerable amount of time for event planning staff to create, edit, and go through approval processes. By limiting the setup options to predetermined setups, this allows us the opportunity to conserve time to manage more events and provide event services to more clients. Setup options include the most commonly requested arrangements, which include theater, classroom, rectangular banquet, and round banquet layouts. Your planner can share these options with you.
Why is the Student Center limiting the number of large outdoor special events it can handle on any given date?
Our team will continue to book and manage as many large outdoor events per day as possible based on staffing and available resources. Smaller outdoor events will not be affected. Large events are defined as those using more than one plaza, more than one Ring Mall area (not spaces), or more than one section of Aldrich Park.
What services for an event need to temporarily be booked directly with a non-Student-Center service provider?
Classroom Technologies (CT) special orders, Community Service Officers (CSOs) for equipment watches, and off-campus event service provider orders (including, but not limited to, balloons, flowers, specialty A/V equipment). Please note that SCES will continue to assist with equipment rentals from Signature Party Rentals, an off-campus service provider.
